September 25th- Oct 2rd 2021
Land portion date TBD non-divers welcome! $900
Join Becky Kagan Schott to do some of the best wreck diving in Croatia! This is an exciting opportunity to dive & experience the amazing historical ship wrecks and visit several beautiful islands in Croatia. The trip has something for everyone between wrecks, walls and marine life but we’ll be focusing on more of the technical wrecks in the 130-155ft range. There are a handful of deeper dives in 150-200ft and the B-17 Flying Fortress in 225ft. Don’t worry if you’re not trained for that depth, there are other planes including a B-24 in recreational depths or we can dive different locations that day depending on experience levels. This trip is very flexible if you wish to stay shallower on a wreck or dive deeper on a wall that’s no problem. Most of the sties are shallower than 150ft. The minimum certification is Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures (trained to dive to 150ft). The boat will also support Closed Circuit Rebreathers and trimix diving! We will be staying aboard the Vranjak, a beautiful 100ft long live aboard vessel that has a fantastic dive platform, booster, compressor, CCR cylinders, bailouts, doubles and can support all tech diving. The crew are tech divers and extremely knowledgable and flexible with dive planning.
There are around 1500 shipwrecks of different types and ages in Croatia. Each has its own story and show the many battles that have taken place though history. There are WWI, WWII and even greek amphora on some sites. The colorful yellow sponges and marine life is fantastic for photography. Some of the wrecks we will be diving include the Francesca de Rimini near Kaprije, Teti, B-17 Flying Fortress, Brioni, Vasillios, B-24 and Ursus near the island of Vis and many more possibilities. Depths will vary from 130-155ft. Some dives such as the B-17 are deeper (200-225) but most dives will not be deeper than 150 feet. One of the best parts of diving some of these shipwrecks is that they are close to the walls so your decompression is along colorful wall. For those who can’t dive that deep there are other wrecks and walls in the same area. You can expect great visibility and calm water around the islands. The water temperature will be around 65-72f degrees (average 68f) and the air temperature is similar making it really comfortable weather.
The cultural heritage is amazing above and below the water as well. Each afternoon we will pull into a different town and be able to get off the boat to explore! This is a great way to really see more of Croatia and feel satisfied seeing multiple islands and cities. The old towns are beautiful and offer history, churches, museums, gelato, hiking and wonderful sightseeing. We also have the option of arriving early and spending an additional few nights in Trojir before we dive. They have over 2300 years of continuous history and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will explore the historical cities of Dubrovnik and Split as well as the Natural World Heritage sites of Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Park tours. Personally I like to see where Game of Thrones was shot 😉 Our experienced guides will take you to the highlights of the region with this amazing diving & land tour trip. Croatia is not only stunning underwater but equally as incredible on the surface.
